Mike Ward: Psychosongs

Lyrically-centric, vocally-charged folk songs that occasionally take on social issues. Those are what singer-songwriter Mike Ward loves to create. Living in Detroit, Mike grew up listening to Irish music and singing in choirs. A few of his influences are Jason Isbell, Nanci Griffith, Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and John Prine. His writing echoes along empty sidewalks, on our nation’s backroads,
in family portraits, and in the thin lines between joy and tragedy, love and loss, past, present and future. Mike spent the better part of 40 years on the creative side of the advertising industry but now creates music full time and is immersed in the Michigan music scene.

Mike has released Six studio albums and several singles, “We Wonder” (2018) ,“The Darkness and The Light” (2021), "Career Advice" single (2021),“Particles to Pearls” (June 2022) "Love Never Rests" (April 2023) and "Still Troubled" (Sept 2024), singles "The Heart Must Pay the Price" and "Transistor Dreams" (Spring 2025) plus a new album
"The Time That Remains" ( July 2025).

Mike's music has been recognized with honorable mentions in the 2022 Great River Songwriting Competition , 2023 & 2024 Telluride Troubadour Songwriting Competition plus as a finalist in the Rocky Mountain Songwriting Competition in 2024. In 2025 1st Alternate Finalist Songwriter Showcase Rocky Mountain Folks Festival as well as
2025 Finalist Michigan Music Awards "Songwriter of the Year".

He performs regularly at small venues, clubs, house shows and festivals throughout Michigan, the Midwest, and the East Coast either solo, as a duo or trio.

Why Psychosongs? Well his nickname as a hockey player is “PsychoWard”. Enough said.
