FIRST ANNUAL STAUNTON OLD TIME MUSIC GATHERING
Staunton based folk/roots musicians and educators Janie Rothfield and Molly Murphy & Queen City Music Studios are hosting the First Annual Staunton Old TIme Music Gathering (SOTMG) starting Friday 5pm, January 31-Sunday 3pm, February 2, 2025. This is a celebration of traditional and original American old time music with over 30 instrumental, singing and dance oriented classes, hours of jamming, square dances and two evening concerts! Two All Star concerts will be held on Friday (1/31) and Saturday (2/1) from 7-9pm (doors open at 6:30pm). Tickets for the general public will be available at the door at Queen City Music Studios retail location at 16 West Beverley Street, Staunton. An old time jam will happen at the QCMS retail location and is open to the public to enjoy!
The SOTMG has attracted over 100 old time music enthusiasts and musicians to Staunton from 6 states (Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina and Tennessee) to learn from and play with the amazing all-star staff representing the best in American Old TIme Music today! This includes internationally touring and recording artists such as Janie Rothfield, Erynn Marshall, Rachel Eddy, Joe Newberry, Hilarie Burhans, Gina Dilg, Michelle Younger, Dakota Karper and Shenandoah Valley/Charlottesville area based musicians Lorie Lichtenwalner, Molly Murphy, TJ Crowe, storyteller Sandy Parks, Hannah Johnson, Lizzie Cahalin Michelle Younger, Pete and Ellen Vigour, Jim Childress, Chris McGrath, Ash Devine, and many more!
